Position Overview
The Production Technologist’s role is to provide technical input across the entire well lifecycle. To deliver cost effective designs, programmes and equipment using WDP principles, processes and best practices. The Production Technologist will be responsible for selecting the most cost effective technology that will deliver the optimum completion performance. The Production Technologist will be responsible for reviewing and endorsing the programmes for interventions activities, development; work over and appraisal wells. This will include, where appropriate, optimising vertical lift and inflow performance and sandface completion.
Accountabilities
Provide PT technical input across the well lifecycle
Designing well completions that are mechanically and operationally fit for purpose for the production life of the well
Conducting tubing stress analysis and lift curve modelling to optimise completion design and post completion production/injection performance
Assist with troubleshooting and remediation planning for any integrity or production optimisation activities.
Reviewing programmes and programme amendments, and ensuring conformance to Repsol Sinopec Resources UK’s Well Engineering and Operations policies and guidelines
Developing AFE quality cost estimates
Maintain a firm understanding of the threat Cyber Attacks pose in both regular IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology / industrial automation) environments and the potential consequences of such attacks
Key Duties
Designing completion activities to comply with legislation
Conducting risk assessments on all completion programmes
Ensuring SORs and appropriate inspection standards for all safety critical completion equipment are available and in use
Ensuring programmes conform to Repsol Sinopec Resources UK’s health, safety and environmental policies
Liaison with sub-surface and production teams to ensure life-of-field requirements are built into completion design
Ensuring long lead completion equipment is selected and ordered on time, to allow for flexibility in the drilling and completion programme
Managing completion equipment procurement, sub assembly make up, shipping, stock inventory control and disposal of surplus stock
Providing technical support to onshore and offshore teams during operations
Providing support for well integrity issues involving the design of the completion, such as MAASP calculation
Monitoring performance of completion operations in order to control costs and safely minimise downtime
Compiling and submitting global performance measurement data for the completion phase
Identifying opportunities to continuously improve performance, to close the gap between existing and “Best in Class” performance
Ensuring application of WDP common processes to planning and operations
Ensuring new technology is economically applied to well programmes
Ensuring the effective use of learning and performance tools in line with WDP principles
Education Attainment & Accreditation
Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent
Current IWCF (or equivalent) Well Control Certificate (Pressure Control)
Maintain necessary offshore certification including BOSIET and medical
Professional Skills & Experience
Previous North Sea production technology experience
Experience of managing financial budgets
Interpersonal Skills & Qualities
