Our client a leading Oil and Gas operator based in Aberdeen are currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor Intern to join their team on an initial contract basis with a view to a permanent position. Ideally for this role they are looking for a candidate with a degree or equivalent in an environmental discipline or a core science with up to 5 years professional experience. For further information see below for the job specification: Position Overview Reporting to the Environmental Team Lead this role is a developmental role with progression potential into an Environmental Advisor role. This role will support both the Environmental Team Lead and Environmental Technical Advisor in regard to identification and management of environmental risks, compliance and continuous improvement. The role requires effective team-working with specific discipline Environmental Advisors to positively change outcomes. It is the intent that the position will be flexible within the Environment Team to assist in the delivery of Company environmental requirements. Accountabilities The Environmental Advisor Intern Role shall be a flexible role supporting the Environment Team to ensure all environmental deliverables meet the Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) obligations of the business and are carried out in compliance with UK Environmental statutory legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice. As part of development within role the individual will shadow and assist Asset/Wells based Environmental Advisors. In addition, they will shadow and support Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to attain knowledge and a greater understanding of the wider business within Focal Point Areas covering any of the following: chemicals, waste, radiation, spill prevention & preparedness, emissions to air or emissions to water. Key Duties • Support the Environmental Team Lead and Environmental Technical Advisor with activities in line with Company environmental Objectives, management and continual improvement of the SEMS • Provide ad hoc support to the Environmental Advisors • Provide support to members of the Environment Team within specialist subject matter area/s • Support the team in applying rigour and structured thinking to ongoing environmental challenges to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions are progressed • Support the Environmental Team with Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reporting requirements both internally and Regulatory • Engagement with appropriate disciplines / departments to enable construction and management of permitry and reports for Regulatory submission • Provide support to the Environmental Team with incident investigations and their compliance with the SEMS as required • Provide support to the Environmental Team for Regulatory Inspections and Investigations as required • Focal point for Environment Reps providing support as and when required and organising quarterly E Rep sessions with support from the Environmental Team • Support development and maintenance of procedures / tools and assurance techniques to allow all sites to comply with the associated regulations and meet best practice as efficiently as possible • Support Environmental Advisors with the environmental audit and assurance program as required • Attend and contribute to relevant team, departmental and company meetings • Follow and comply with company Golden Rules, Procedures, & Policies and hold others to account to do the same Education Attainment & Accreditation • Degree or equivalent in an environmental discipline or a core science Developmental Training • Ability to obtain on the job experience as an Environmental Advisor for an offshore operator • Ability to undertake IEMA Environmental Auditor Training • Ability to undertake OPEP Level 3 Training – Emergency Response • Emergency Response overview in support of out of hours contact role • Opportunity to fulfill role of out of hours contact within Environmental Advisor role • Opportunity to obtain offshore experience through auditing and Inspection via shadowing • Ability to undertake Radiation Awareness Training • Ability to undertake Investigation Training Interpersonal Skills & Qualities • Enthusiastic and motivated to make a difference and drive improvement and compliance • Technical excellence, drive and performance delivery focus • Ability to bring tasks to completion • Ability to interface with Internal and external stakeholders that fosters collaborative relationships • Ability to prioritise workload, weighing up urgency and importance of issues • Good communicator (both written and verbal) • Good planning and analytical skills with an eye for detail • Solution driven, work positively and proactively to find sustainable solutions to environmental challenges which may arise • Ability to embrace change and continual improvement • Strong personal safety and environmental awareness and risk management skills • Displays core values at all times in discharging responsibilities through, Leadership, excellence, Accountability and Positivity Circumstances • Ability to travel offshore
