Design Operations lead – KPMG UK – Aberdeen


KPMG is looking for a Design Ops Practitioner with the passion to create high-quality products and services.

Our team is collaborative and focuses on designing and delivering digital solutions using a user-driven, agile approach. We work lean, and take an approach of using prototypes and data, continuous iteration, curiosity, and a small team with big autonomy mentality.

This is a newly created role within the team and is in its infancy within the design industry. The role is designed to operationalise what we create and how we create it. The role looks at attaining efficiency, consistency and quality in four core areas of DesignOps: People, Design Toolkit, Collaboration and Design Value.

This is still a hands-on role at an operation and function level (templates, service manuals, design systems, recruitment briefs, conducting workshops etc… are examples of what you will be doing).

As a Design Ops Practitioner:

You know the difference between people and resources

You have the ability to craft collaborative spaces and relationships for people to succeed

You have the relevant commercial experience and proven experience of linking user needs with business goals

You are used to working in agile environments and enjoy the benefits of working in this way.

You are keen to learn, evolve, and continually challenge yourself and the way you do things.

You want to be part of a fast paced team that are constantly improving and continually “getting less wrong” together.

What you need to bring with you:

Have experience 5+ years in Marketing and Design operations roles

Are a Team player – you see your work as part of the team’s overall plan, and within that you’re happy driving your own projects or supporting team members with theirs

Have attention to detail – you value getting things right and be above and beyond in looking at the details

Have an Ownership mentality: don’t just execute what’s asked of you, but question whether we’ve asked you the right question or if it could be done a better way

Have worked with a variety of teams in the past ranging from regulatory to marketing to engineering.

Have a sense of software development lifecycles as well as operational release processes.

Have experience creating and maintaining complex timelines that span multiple disciplines and analyse dependencies.

Have an analytical mind and have used a wide range of tools for tracking process and progress (ex: JIRA,MSP).

Make high quality decisions at speed taking into account dedication of time, resources, and available data.

Desired skills

Skilled in common design tooling; JIRA, Figma, etc.

Familiarity with a range of research techniques and related deliverables

Experienced in leading or facilitating workshops and conducting user / stakeholder interviews
